Carolena ~ Purr-fection

Clever and smart
And so adorable too.
It was love at first sight.
That much we each knew.

An incredible journey
Was about to begin.
We were soon to discover
All the treasures hidden within.

Always loving and loyal -
A trusted pal by your side.
A faithful companion
In whom you confide.

There in the good times
And through any hardship.
And, always available
On the “flippity-flip.”

So silly and playful
Always making us crack-up
Just like a frisky kitten
Or an inquisitive pup

Full of wild abandon
Yet such a sensitive soul.
And those crazy antics…
Always had us laughing so.

She was a lot like her beloved critters-
Faithful, fun-loving, and sweet.
And knowing she loved us
Made us each feel complete.

We all remember thinking,
Oh, please! “Pick me! Pick me!”
And, she chose …each of us.
How lucky were we.

Carolena, by just being herself,
Without fanfare or fuss,
Changed all of our lives
When she “rescued” us.

We are honored this year to have a special guest – Sid Busch, a Navy Veteran.  Sid has a very unique story.  Each weekend he runs for one of our fallen soldiers, carrying a full size American flag and with the picture of the person he’s honoring.

This year at the Charlevoix Marathon, he will be running for Major Douglas E Sloan.  Major Sloan was killed Oct 31, 2006 in Afghanistan.  He is a Charlevoix native.  His parents still live there.   We thank Major Sloan and all of the other veterans present and past for their service.  To read more about Major Sloan – Click Here.
