Expect a very scenic race with some of the most breathtaking views available of any marathon course. You will run along the shores of Lake Michigan several times throughout the course. You will enjoy more views of Lake Michigan than in past years.
The Marathon and Half Marathon are out and back courses beginning at the north side of the bridge (100 Michigan Ave) in the beautiful downtown area of Charlevoix. The course will wind through fantastic residential tree lined neighborhoods for over 3.5 miles then onto the bike trail at Waller and US31. The course is primarily flat, fast, shaded for the most part with some inclines.
This course is a favorite of those qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Each year we have more than 18% of the field qualify.
Need a break while on the course – look for our bench. It’s between Nine Mile Point condos and Burgess Road. Can’t miss it. Only one in that area.
Aid Stations- There’s an aid station placed approximately every 1.5 miles. Stocked with Orange Gatorade, water, Vanilla, Chocolate, Rootbeer, Salted Carmel, and Strawberry/Banana GU, Licorice, Jolly Ranchers and Mint candy, pickle juice (three stations will have pickle slices), and first aid kits. Aid station #1 will be on the course until approximately 12:45 PM. We monitor the course closely. Supplies will be left for you once the aid station is done. Our staff will be on the course until the last runner has finished. No runner left behind. Please plan accordingly.
Porta Potties – There will be 34 Porta Potties available. 23 behind the registration area and 11 on the course. Plus there’s restroom in the Beaver Island Boat company building and at the marina in East Park.

Our amazing volunteers will be at the finish line with water and to present you with your finisher medal until 1:15 P.M. After that we’ll have them at the registration area.
Our staff will be on the course with water and GU assisting the last runners for your safety. Please note that ALL aid stations will be closed by 1:00 PM. Supplies will be left for you. Please plan accordingly.
There will be a misting station on the course at the 10K turn, at the Corner of Waller and Old Orchard- A great way to cool off!!!
Sorry but Brady, Lady, Rocky and all of their other four legged friends are not allowed on the course. Please leave them with their sitter.
